Classic Pick: In this elegant dining room designed by Katherine Newman, pastel tinted striped sheers offer a hit of glamor. The delicate drapes are a subtle way to accent the glassware’s ice cream palette.

Fresh Spin: Consider using a favorite fabric (this one is inspired by Tory Burch’s New York apartment), in a few different places to make a small studio apartment feel connected, without overwhelming it. This exotic blue-and-white ikat was such a hit, designer Alison Pringle purchased 25 yards of it to make the punchy drapes, as well as upholster the X-benches, chair seats and pillows.
