Jillian Harris Shares Her Design Must-Haves For Summer
Designer and TV personality Jillian Harris has carved out an enviable life on the West Coast with her partner Justin and their two young children. Life in the Okanagan is picturesque in the summer, and Jillian amps up the beachy vibe with big doses of pink for her exclusive summer collaboration with Etsy. The collection (available until September 31) is pretty perfect for her fairytale life.
“I’ve teamed up with nine Canadian makers to deliver a fresh line of decorative accents, apparel and accessories designed specifically for summer living,” says Jillian, like Instagram-worthy planters from Hudson + Oak and fun fringe pillows from Cloth and Main.

Jillian Harris: There are so many amazing things about Kelowna, from the warm Okanagan sunshine, to the beautiful beaches, incredible wineries and amazing local fruit … those are only a few reasons to live here!
JH: I like to keep my summer decor light, fresh and airy. I tend to use a mix of whites, creams and pops of blush throughout our home which is why this line fits so nicely with our decor. We love to host people all summer long but we keep it pretty casual, lounging by the pool and putting out a ton of snacks and drinks for people to help themselves. In the hot summer months, we spend a lot of time outside on our patio, so I knew I wanted to have a beautiful set of outdoor pillows in this collection. So, that’s when I decided to partner up with Cloth and Main for this collection. There are three gorgeous pillows made out of outdoor-safe fabric (outdoor safe inserts are also available) that complement each other and look stunning on any patio set.
JH: I have always loved gardening, but this year I really got into it. I’m by no means a pro but I’m pretty happy about everything I learned from all of my followers and trial and error this season. I have a ton of favorites when it comes to plants, but to name a few, lavender, Russian sage, Echinacea, delphiniums, hydrangeas and peonies. We have beautiful lightweight planters in a matte finish — called Summer Rosé by Hudson + Oak — that come in medium or large sizes.
JH: I absolutely feel like anyone can do coastal in their home. In my opinion, just because you don’t live by the water, doesn’t mean you can’t bring that vibe into your home, especially if it’s something that brings you joy.
JH: I really wanted to go for pieces that were timeless, something you could have in your home or wardrobe for years to come and even pieces that could become heirlooms in your family. But there’s a fun side to this collection too. After all, what would summer be without the perfect scrunchie to keep your hair in a cute ponytail or top knot when you’re out and about or lounging poolside?
JH: Summer Love from Brand & Iron will fill the air in your home with summery notes of mango and coconut that’ll have you craving sunshine and cocktails.
JH: When it comes to setting a pretty table, I love to add multiple layers in the tablescape, such as chargers, napkins, water glasses, cocktail glasses, different sizes and shapes of platters and bowls. This keeps the tablescape intriguing. One of my favorite tricks is to buy a nice big bouquet of flowers and separate it into multiple bud vases and scatter them throughout the middle of the table for some depth and height.
JH: The blush pink in this collection adds a nice subtle touch of color, it’s light and not over the top which is perfect for incorporating into many homes. No table setting is complete without a stunning set of linens. La Petite Boite Co.’s linen napkins have the cutest pom pom edging.
JH: You hit the nail on the head, pink! I’m finally able to incorporate more pops of pink and pastels into our home, and I’ve been loving every minute of it! Brook Drabot Glass made beautiful glass straws for our collection that are a great eco-friendly alternative to plastic straws and ideal for both hot and cold liquids. You can choose from either straight or bent straws that come in a pretty blush cloth case that includes a brush for easy cleaning. These are perfect for sipping those summer cocktails. Tried, tested and approved by me.
JH: Add a soft hit of color that complements food and makes it look even more appetizing. I love the blush ceramic serving platters, serving bowls and tumblers from Looks Like White in my collection. These ceramics are a beautiful way to serve up your favorite salads, pasta and cocktails this summer.
