When designing and decorating a bedroom, comfort is key. And that’s exactly what Lynda Reeves Design Studio kept in mind when transforming TV host Marilyn Denis’ bedroom into an eclectic space. See how Lynda creates a warm and welcoming vibe using tribal patterns, rich textures and an exotic colour scheme.

The existing grey-white wall paint proves to be a great foundation for the new update, and a wooden chest — which was refinished with dark brown oil — was kept from the original design on Marilyn’s request. A solid black cane bed coordinates well with tone-on-tone side tables that offer plenty of storage and surface space. Matte black and burnished gold sconces were used in place of traditional table lamps to leave room on the nightstands. To create a layered global look, crisp white sheets were paired with a grey-and-yellow block-printed duvet cover and a mix of eyelet, velvet and vintage-velvet pillows. Custom drapes made with a teal tribal-like fabric coordinate with hits of rich purple on the pillows. The result: a cosy, but not precious, bedroom.
