Petit H by Hermès

Upcycled and leftovers don’t really spring to mind when we think of luxury French brand Hermès. But the company’s Petit h line, which made a rare appearance on this side of the Atlantic at a pop-up in L.A. last month, puts both those concepts at its centre. The brainchild of designer (and great-great-great-granddaughter of Thierry Hermès) Pascale Mussard, Petit h features quirky furniture and home accessories made from scrap materials found in the company’s factories: surplus leather, last season’s fabrics, an unused buckle from one of the brand’s iconic bags. The line launched in 2010 and ignores the seasonal trends in favour of a more curated, artistic approach. No word on when a Canadian pop-up might happen, but Petit h is  available by special order and at the company’s shop at 17 rue de Sèvres in Paris.
