NYE Cocktail: French 75

Named after a French 75mm artillery gun, this classic cocktail works best with a London dry gin like Bombay Sapphire. Sparkling wine gives it a celebratory twist ideal for clinking glasses on New Year’s Eve.

Ingredients

  • Ice cubes
  • 4 oz. gin
  • 2 oz. fresh-squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 oz. simple syrup
  • 1 bottle Cava or other dry (brut) sparkling wine, chilled
  • Lemon twists (for garnish

Directions

Yield: Serves 6

  1.  Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add gin, lemon juice and simple syrup. Shake. Strain into 4 champagne flutes. Top each with sparkling wine. Garnish each with lemon twist.
