Ask A Designer: Bright Front Door
Updated on May 17, 2016
Q. I’d like to freshen our house’s façade and have seen more brightly coloured front doors around my neighbourhood recently. I’d like to try this! What are some on-trend colours to use?

A. Painting your front door is an easy fix for spring! For almost any brick or siding, a green like Inland (SW 6452) by Sherwin-Williams will work. A cobalt blue like Benjamin Moore’s Patriot Blue (2064-20) will lend a preppy vibe to red brick or white siding. And give grey or brown brick or siding a hit of yellow, as in our inspiration photo — the door is painted in Benjamin Moore’s Lemon (2021-20) — or a shock of orange like Charlotte’s Locks (268) by Farrow & Ball.
