Benjamin Moore just announced its highly anticipated 2016 Color of the Year as Simply White. Inspired by snowy afternoons in Paris and crisp button-ups, Simply White celebrates the subtleness and complexity of this timeless hue. “The color white is transcendent, powerful and polarizing – it is either taken for granted or obsessed over,” says Ellen O’Neill, Benjamin Moore Creative Director.

Though the choice might seem unexpected, the popularity of white is no surprise. In today’s fast-paced world, we need a visual break. “White is not just a design trend, it is a design essential,” she says. “The popularity of white, the necessity of white, the mystique of white is quantifiable in our industry. Of the top ten best-selling Benjamin Moore colours, variants of white occupy five spots.”
