Easy DIY: Trimmed Pillows

Mixing tone-on-tone trims lends texture to pillows:

1. Choose pillows and covers. We picked a small brown burlap pillow (second row, left) to show off a beaded wooden trim and a square white pillow (second row, right) that was large enough to handle three different trims.

2. Choose the trims. We liked the wooden beads for the mix of warm brown tones and the light sound they make. The eyelash and crewelwork trims have similar soft cream colors, but their different textures give a slightly offbeat look.

3. Cut the trims to the length of the pillows’ edges or fronts. Hand-sew the trims onto the pillow covers.
