King East Design District Event
Toronto’s King East Design District (KEDD) will be hosting an exhibition this weekend that you design-savvy readers may want to check out. Thursday night is the VIP launch event — Lynda Reeves will be speaking about the design district. Stay tuned for Chloe Berge’s blog post about the exclusive event on Friday morning. The exhibition will open to the public from Saturday September 29th to Sunday September 30th, 11am to 4pm each day. Click here to order your $10 tour passport before the event, which is a donation to Habitat for Humanity, a cause Lynda proudly supports.
The design district spans along King Street East from Church Street to Sackville Street, and between Adelaide Street and Front Street. If you’re in the area this weekend, be sure to stop by.
The inaugural event will combine various staples of luxurious lifestyle found in the city of Toronto, and will offer the opportunity for venues within the district to showcase the best of local and international design from appliances and furniture to wine and dining. Sub-Zero and Wolf are event sponsors, and their appliance showroom is sure to be filled with kitchen inspiration for all.
Stroll through the district and check out the latest collections by renowned designers, including Klaus Nienkämper’s 60-year history of iconic furniture.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn about carpet-making (Modern Weave’s Michael Pourvakil will be teaching rug 101 to guests), venture on design tours and get in-store interior consultations.
The event encourages the public to experience the growth in the area, stemming from King Street East’s pioneers to the newest additions of design outlets in the neighbourhood. (The number of furniture stores and showrooms has doubled in the area in the last five years.)
Visit the exhibition from Saturday September 29th at 11am to Sunday September 30th at 4pm. Click here to order your tour passport!
