Visit Devour! The Food Film Festival In Nova Scotia

How do you get 6,500 people to visit a community of 4,500 for the weekend? You create a celebration of two things people love – film and food. From November 4^th – 8^th Wolfville, Nova Scotia, will host the third annual Devourfest – a film festival centered on food-related films.

What To Expect

Over the five days, guests have access to 80 films chosen from over 300 submissions by Executive Director Michael Howell and Managing Director Lia Rinaldo. Ticket holders can attend meals created by some of Canada’s best chefs, partake in intimate cooking workshops and discussions on niche topics like uber-trendy natural wine with Montrealer Martin Juneau.

The Lineup

The festival will kick off with a viewing of the 1987 classic Babette’s Feast at a gala event hosted by Hollywood star Bill Pullman. Premiering at the festival will be In Defense of Food by director Michael Schwarz and based on Michael Pollan’s critically acclaimed book.

There will be three feature dinners, each with a team of well-known chefs creating meals inspired by festival movies. First, a dinner based on the film The Singhampton Project, a 6-month behind-the-scenes look into Michael Stadtlander’s Eigensinn Farms, cooked by some of Canada’s best chefs. The film The Empire of Scents will be the inspiration for a dinner cooked by celebrity chef Bob Blumer and other culinary talents. Finally, there will be a first-class dining experience inspired by the film Good Things Await.
