Designer Mazen El-Abdallah creates an airy vibe in his kitchen with a white backsplash and cabinets. Black steel doors lead out to the balcony while a Saarinen table and Thonet chairs lend a chic bistro note to the space. Floating wooden shelves create warm contrast.

In this West End Toronto home, classic details — recessed panel and glass-fronted cabinets, crown molding and wood floors — feel airy thanks to a mostly-white palette and a marble backsplash that stretches to the ceiling.

In homeowner and style blogger Gabrielle Savoie’s petite condo kitchen, a pair of copper-plated barstools from Blu Dot add a welcome hit of warmth.

Large pieces of furniture, like this cabinet, are a unique solution to bathroom storage. Paired with bold chrome vanities and a colorful rug, it brings character to the clean, white space.

In the 2015 Princess Margaret Showhome’s spa-like bathroom, faux finish walls offer a subtle hit of texture. They’re also the perfect backdrop to the hand-cast resin and sculpted-plaster flowers of the stunning wall treatment.

The guest bathroom of editor-in-chief Suzanne Dimma is bright and airy thanks to the subtle wallpaper pattern. The clawfoot tub was salvaged and the fixtures were dipped in unlacquered brass for a fresh, modern look.
