Trend Watch: Buttery Brass Is This Year’s Update In Kitchens & Bathrooms

It’s no secret that brass hardware is a big trend in kitchen and bathroom design, but lately we’ve seen this warm metal being used in unexpected ways. One of the top trends for 2019 listed in our January issue, buttery brass walks the line between polished and matte. Here are eight spaces with buttery brass details that you’ll want to bookmark for your next kitchen or bathroom reno!

Brass is used in a big way in this kitchen by Les Ensembliers. A patinated finish on the island and vent hood ensures it looks sophisticated, not flashy.

A shiny chevron band punctuates a penny tile backsplash in this kitchen. Matching gold-hued grout ties the look together.

Amp up your warm metallic hardware and fixtures with a matching metallic mosaic tile on the walls. The sparkly pairing of tile and mirror provides depth to the metallic-on-metallic look.

Vintage brass kick plates, to match the antique hardware, add a touch of warmth in an unexpected place. The brass is brought up onto the light fixture too, creating a harmonious look.

Could it be celebrity designer Nate Berkus who started this trend? A brass island against the black and white envelope combine for a truly sublime look in his and husband Jeremiah Brent’s kitchen.

For a fun effect, add in a surprise metallic element. The golden interiors of the pendant lights over the island cast a warm tone in the kitchen. Recreate the look in a bathroom with sconces.
