10 Pets Ready For The Holidays
Once the Christmas tree is decorated and the eggnog is flowing, it’s time to make sure that Santa’s little helpers are ready for the holidays, too. And leave it to design bloggers and Insta-famous lifestyle photographers to ensure their pooches and felines are just as decked-out as their gorgeous holiday homes. Here are 10 of our favorite dogs and cats who are already in the festive spirit.
Amber Fillerup of the lifestyle blog Barefoot Blonde fastened a single antler atop her golden retriever Chauncey a la How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Her one-year-old daughter, Rosie, looks super cozy atop a Moroccan-style leather pouf, while Chauncey is nestled in a plush snow white rug.
Canadian interior designer Jillian Harris knows the importance of curb appeal. Last Christmas, she hung a pretty evergreen wreath on her door and draped a furry throw over her wooden front bench. The finishing touch? Her dog Cilantro Nacho, who is posed to greet holiday guests.
When Kyong An Millar, the owner of Salt Lake City-based boutique Koo De Ker, wants to get her pup Miso prepped for the holidays, she puts him in his holly red Christmas sweater. Pillows in tartan and candy cane striped patterns give the sofa a festive look.
If you don’t have a fireplace but still want to hang stockings, follow interior designer Amber Lewis’s trick and dangle them from a beautiful wood credenza. And instead of a typical fabric tree skirt, Amber has her Christmas tree standing inside a wicker one that looks totally Scandi-chic. Her cat Stevie, meanwhile, looks cozy lounging on a throw blanket.
Anyone can throw a Santa hat on their pooch and call it a day, but only Maria of the farmhouse-chic design shop Dreamy Whites can make a calf look Christmas-ready. Maria tied tartan scarves on a rustic wood ladder and this cute calf, and outfitted the little pup in a holiday bow.
Photographers Tiffany and Robert Patterson snapped this shot of a beautiful fireplace designed by Brian Patrick Flynn. On Instagram, they sum it up perfectly: “The tree is up, the mantle decorated and now we all claim our spots for an evening of holiday cheer.” This pup has nabbed the best spot.
For the holiday season, blogger Katy Orme transformed a chalkboard door into a DIY Advent calendar made of twine, paper bags, Christmas ornaments and eucalyptus twigs. It looks as if her golden retriever, Otto, gives the project a tail wag of approval, too.
Photographer Theron Humphrey has criss-crossed the 50 states all with his best friend, Maddie the coonhound. While Maddie loves being outdoors — just check out Theron’s amazing Instagram for photos of her sleeping on logs over creeks or exploring the mountains of Colorado — she’s just as comfortable perched in a Bertoia chair over the holidays.
Portland-based blogger Kaleigh Kosmas has perfected her holiday pet style, from the cat-shaped wooden serving board to the punny stockings. Her cat Bisou is definitely a lucky feline.
Style blogger Carly Heitlinger of the College Prepster outfitted two tiny pups in L.L. Bean moccasins. What could be cozier on a cold winter night than a pair of shearling-lined leather slippers?
