Jonathan Adler’s New Collection For H&M Home Is A Maximalist’s Dream

We’ve been big fans of designer, potter and author Jonathan Adler for years: he regularly pops up in our magazine and can always be counted on for a quick-witted quote on home decor (some of his brand manifestos include: “We believe minimalism is a bummer” and “If your heirs won’t fight over it, we won’t make it”).
So, when we heard about his Jonathan Adler x H&M Home collection — which launches on November 14 (available only online in Canada) — we marked our calendars with excitement. From sculptures to vases and cushions, we can’t get enough of the pop art colors and punchy graphics in his trademark “tongue-in-chic” style. See some of our favorites below.

“Your home should reflect you at your most eccentric, most glamorous and happiest,” says Jonathan. The collaboration focuses on the social areas of the house, like the living room and lounge. Plus, the campaign was shot in Jonathan’s inspirational New York City home that embodies his irreverent, joyful aesthetic.

“Everyone in our company lives by these words (and so should you): we believe colors can’t clash,” he says. “Life’s too short to look back and see an endless haze of beige.”

“People often get anxious when it comes to interior design, but they shouldn’t,” says Jonathan. “My only rule? If you love it, it will work.”

Naughty or nice? All it takes is a turn of this pillow and throw (layered underneath) from the collection to set the mood.

Figural vases are Jonathan’s trademark. Here, they are used to dress up two vessels and give them some extra personality. Plus, they are a natural for holding fresh flowers or candy…

…and he hasn’t left out playful toss pillows…

…or a pretty tray, which can be lined with toiletries or candles.

Bright colors and vivid patterns on lidded scented candles with playful coordinating tassels add instant ambiance, even when they aren’t lit.

A lacquer box in a jewel-toned geometric pattern is an unexpected hit of color on a bookshelf or sideboard, or as storage in a home office.

Eye-catching vases in saturated hues and curvy shapes spice up a vignette or “shelfie.”

Decorative cushion covers have a luxe velvet finish, but it’s the geo prints that will seriously jumpstart a sofa.

Bask in the glow that radiates from a solid brass sun sculpture, or stack rings on the ceramic hand for safekeeping.
