Cate Blanchett and her playwright husband Andrew Upton may have permanently moved to the U.S. last year, but they haven’t completely severed ties with their home city. The Oscar-winning actress, who’s been nominated again this year for her lead role in Carol, acquired a multi-million dollar apartment in Sydney’s central business district. With two Oscar wins under her belt, a crash pad across the pond is essential for the jet-setting actress.
Cate purchased the five-bedroom apartment from businessman and The Celebrity Apprentice star Mark Bouris for a whopping $8 million. With views over the harbor, including the Sydney Opera House, we’d say it’s a steal.
Housed in the famed Astor building on Macquarie Street, the two-level home boasts five bedrooms, four bathrooms, and three parking spaces.
The first floor features a large formal living room with a built-in bar and a long pendant light fixture that’s repeatedly used throughout the home.
The art-filled dining room is brightly lit with views of the harbor and Sydney Opera House.
