Shops We Love: Four Makers Are Better Than One At Field Made Goods
Published on March 5, 2021

Starting a new business during a global pandemic may seem like a daunting task, but for the owners of Field Made Goods, it was a chance to help each other succeed. Four makers — candle designer Laurel Munro (East City Candles), ceramicist Caitlin O’Reilly (Cylinder Studio), apothecary Melissa Condotta (Sunday’s Company) and woodworker Bethanie Kaye — combined their efforts to create a one-of-a-kind shop that brings their output under one roof. “This is something we’re really proud of,” says Laurel. “It’s a concept you don’t find very often, especially because everything we put on our shelves is made by us.”

The shop’s pink exterior was original to the building. The owners painted the door in Sherwin-Williams’ Jasper, a gray-green hue, for added curb appeal.

Housed in a late-1800s building, the store’s original interior was old-fashioned and lacklustre, so the quartet renovated. The interior’s natural materials reflect the products. “We wanted it to be a very clean, art gallery–type feel,” says Laurel.

You can find candles, ceramic plates and mugs, plant-based skincare and handmade wooden bowls and candlesticks in the 400-square-foot retail space in Picton, Ontario at 198 Picton Main St.

Serve every meal in style with these raw-edge stoneware platters.

These sleek gold candlesticks are a luxurious touch to any space, especially when paired with artful beeswax tapers!

“I’m a bust collector and I just had to make a candle version,” says Laurel of her Beeswax Artemis candle.

Filled with nourishing ingredients like cinnamon, red clover and ginger, this luxurious oil is meant to promote relaxation and ease menstrual cramps. Just rub onto your lower abdomen for the best results.
