Shops We Love: June Home Supply Masters Modern Minimalism

Joël Cyr was working as a chef and his wife, Danielle, was at home raising their two children when the couple cooked up their first design webshop in 2014. Fast-forward five years, and they’ve expanded from clicks to bricks with the opening of June Home Supply (250 Kennedy St., Unit 2) in downtown Winnipeg. Attached to a coffee shop, the store’s modern minimalist interior was designed in collaboration with Renee Struthers of Studio Hiraeth and features a room-within-a-room layout that makes the space feel more like a well-edited home. Mediterranean-inspired stucco walls with geometric cutouts add architecture and interest. “We wanted it to feel like an experience,” says Danielle.

The couple’s curated collection of home and lifestyle wares, sourced from small-scale producers, inspires customers to elevate everyday tasks with beautiful items such as beechwood bowls, Turkish towels, all-natural French soaps and Moroccan baskets.

Recently, Joël and Danielle also added vintage pieces, including terracotta jugs and wooden picnic baskets.

“I like the mix of old and new; pieces that have a story add warmth and uniqueness,” says Danielle — proof that timeless design and found treasures make a house a home.

Thom Bargen Coffee is connected to the store and is the perfect spot to refuel.

A picnic basket handcrafted from white ash with leather handles turns lunch in the park into a fashionable affair.
