Where to Stay:
Slaymaker & Nichols
Most will come to this spot for dinner at the popular resto-bar, but those in the know will have booked a stay here. There are three guest rooms to choose from, each paying tribute to the city’s history, and Henry Slaymaker and William Nichols, who once brought a circus to town and stole attention away from a political gathering nearby, where confederacy was being established. Co-owner Christine McQuaid’s design features rich colors, vibrant patterns and extravagant touches like soaker tubs in the guest rooms.
