It's been my own personal experience that this is really the first time they've done a more contemporary set - it won't be like this forever - I believe they're just covering the design styles so they don't get stuck with any particular "clique" . The past set was very warm and traditional. Maybe next one will be Vintage or European.
I find that the contemporary they are currently experimenting with is very warm. I don't find it cold or sterile at all. THey've added a lot of influences, through textures, etc, that bring in the warmth.
I love it, and I'm glad they're doing something "I" like, for a change. :-) But I also appreciate other styles, so I'm looking forward to seeing what they do next.
