okay ladies here we go again........ :hairpull: yep, you guessed it...possible sofa troubles. Heck i know i didnt spend 6000 dollars on a set...like i can afford too.........however 3000 is no drop in the bucket on my budget  i had noticed the cushions on the loveseat looking a little odd...so today when the light was coming in you could really see it.....it looks like the freaking color is coming right off the leather near the end of the cushions, say where someone would rest their feet.....it is yellowy in that spot and faded, now i do expect leather to wear out and look worn which is a nice look but not have the color removed after 4 months, we have never used chemicals and have only dry dusted the furniture, so to try a sample i took a very damp cloth and i mean very damp and wiped a spot and guess what the darn color came right off the seat and onto the white cloth....that being said, in my search of leathers i have learned that some are not dyed all the way through. So, have any of you with leather ever had this problem. I have called the store and they are sending someone and the girl i spoke to said the color coming off is NOT normal...........however, im still worried that they may not do anything. I know leather will fade but this is not normal fading to me........

Oh Janet this is awful!!!! I hope they will replace the whole couch for you!!
I am sorry I never had this problem I had my leather set for 8 yrs and 2 moves. I have it insured just in case. I am not the greatest about using the right stuff cleaning it but I do use the proper cleaner and treat it twice a year.
I think this is very wrong what has happened to you...so new and the color just wiping off????? They should send it back to company and let you get a new set!!!!!!!!!GOOD LUCK!!!!! I am hoping for the best for you!!!!! :D
oh i think i jinxed myself by whining about being browned out, so the brown is trying to jump right off the sofa  oh smoodgie right about now.........im ready to pack my bags and run so far from this house  i think i will just get a futon.....but my darn luck the mattress would fall off onto the floor or like jen said the beans would come out of the bean bag chairs, the milk crates would likely collaspe :D this is just craziness! levitate is all that is left to do :biglol:

janet, please, I'm begging you -- BLOW UP YOUR LIVING ROOM!!!!!! Everything in that room is jinxed!!!!! If that's too drastic for you, then you and your hubby and kids need to learn how to levitate so you can sit on your sofa without actually touching it :D
I don't know what to tell you -- hopefully, the guy coming out to check it will decide that it's defective and they'll offer you a replacement.
Good luck!!
It is very evident in your pic that the colour has changed. Not good for a new sofa.
Hope they come out soon to check it so either you get your money back or a replacement.
I feel for you Janetc
i think you are right....i have never seen anything like it in my life..... i have bought a couple sofas over the years and never paid big bucks and they were fine until i tired of them.
dustbunnydiva...yes i was aware that leather will fade and i did the scratch test and all and things seemed fine  ....i did some reading about the color coming off on the net, and they said generally it happens in the seam areas and can be touched up but the touch ups dont always last, that worries me because if that is what they do...im afraid it may happen again and eventually they will say toooooooooo bad :hairpull: i had noticed recently the cushion looked a little odd as i would get a glimpse walking by but thought it was the light shining in, and of course im as blind as a bat and decided to take a closer look and i couldnt believe it. I would agree, something doesnt seem right with the dying process or something
jenjen....i have never used anything on this sofa....and my FIL has a black leather and its been kicking around for years and like you.......no problems at all. I tell you jen.......im so fed up with this crap.....its pretty bad when you cant get a sofa to last past 4 months without something going wrong......and im not about to sit back, its our money going down the tubes. It is very true about cost as well....some of the sites i was on tonight about leather sofas...they said dont be fooled by the price........higher isnt always better...it really depends on how much quality the company puts into the sofa.......
oh well, we will see what the guy says when he comes

of all the leather couches i've had janet i've never had that...i've had them wear and get patenaed as i like to call it...but never like that...and i've used chemicals on my leather...that's just plain ODD...well dear...i really don't know what else to tell ya...i've never really paid big coin for leather couches either...my first set came from Leons 11 years ...and they are in the rec room still going strong...the other set the cream ones came from the Sears outlet store and that was 6 years ago and they too are in the rec room still holding up well...that sucks...maybe you're just not meant to have a living room J...LOL...good luck with the store...it's a good sign that they aren't giving you a hard time when you called...keep us posted...those milk crates are startin' to look good aren't they... :D ...i recommend bean bag chairs but knowing you're luck they'd get a hole in them and you'd end up with lil beans all over the place
Well colour does come off leather over time, but it sure doesn't whipe off on a cloth. Think of how shoes are. They scuff and scratch, but the colour doesn't usually whipe off unless using some chemical.
I'm afraid this is where the rubber meets the road when it comes to leathers. It has to be dyed through to last and there are many that are not and price is not always an indicator. If you check the swatches in stores you'll see where folks like me have taken my fingernail to them to see how good the dye is. It does pay to see those swatches and check them through and through to see where the dye is and how set it is. It sounds like yours is not set properly or something.
meanwhile, talk to whoever they send to see what they say. Don't buy into them just patching the area. They can do a wonderful job of redying etc. but given the age of the sofa I don't think that would be a good answer for you. I can tell you they did it with my set (the one in the garage now) and matched perfectly but along the piping it needs it again. I wouldn't have normally bothered with it but since I need to sell it I need it looking crisp. So some parts do wear and can be brought back, but they shouldn't be doing it the first year IMO.
Maybe youa re not meant to have a couch. That really sucks I hope everything works out.
is a pic.......it actually looks much worse in real life, hard to tell in the picture... you can see the spot near the front of the cushion beside the crack in between the cushions...i had to show you guys this or you will really think im off my rocker
