Canadian Fruit Crisp Recipe

Recipe:

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 325°F. Grease an 8″ square baking dish.

Step 2: For the topping, combine flour, oats, sugar, cinnamon, salt and butter in a bowl. Work together with fingertips until crumbly.

Step 3: Toss the fresh fruit with maple syrup and allspice. Spoon into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the fruit.

Step 4: Bake the crisp until it is bubbly and the top is evenly browned, about 30 minutes. Let cool slightly. Serve warm, topped with ice cream or cream, if desired.

Topping
1/2 cup (125 mL) all-purpose flour
1/2 cup (125 mL) rolled oats
1/2 cup dark brown sugar, packed
1 tsp ground cinnamon
dash salt
1/3 cup unsalted butter, room temperature

Fruit Filling
5 cups seasonal fresh fruit, peeled and diced
1/3 cup maple syrup
1/4 tsp ground allspice
