DIY: Fabric Catchalls

Updated on January 2, 2017

These trays are a stylish place to stash keys or change. You’ll need a 1′ x 2′ sheet of leather or felt to make both fabric catchalls.

  1. Attach a sheet of iron-on adhesive to the unfinished side of the leather or felt. Peel off the backing, apply your fabric (print side up), and iron again to seal.
  2. Using a rotary cutter and metal ruler, cut out a 7″- sq. sheet and 8″ x 10″ rectangle. Cut out 1″ squares from each corner of both pieces. (They will now look like thick plus signs.)
  3. Use a hammer and nail to punch two holes along the inner edge of each cutout.
  4. Thread a leather cord through two adjacent holes, pull the edges together to form a point and knot. Repeat for other corners.
