Editor’s Picks: 5 Patterned Fabrics Perfect For Summer
Senior design editor Stacey Smithers shares the season’s top printed textiles.
Right now, just about every editor in the H&H office has a beautiful, colorfully patterned fabric pinned to their mood board. Whether it’s for a bold upholstery project or vibrant window covering, a great patterned textile is something we’re all coveting. Looking to add some color and life to your home? Here are five of my favorite printed picks…
Tiny Trinket in Coral Reef by Robert Allen. This swatch has been tacked up on my inspiration board for some time, and it makes me happy every time I imagine it cascading down a wall as a beautiful drape. Its embroidered pattern is so charming, and I especially love the saturated Coral Reef colorway.

Nympheus in Linen/Stone/Pistachio by GP & J Baker. This is one of my all-time favorite fabrics! Part of the Baker Originals collection, it’s a long-established classic. Its subject matter, scale and coloring are the perfect mix of modern and traditional. Plus, if you’re looking for a botanical that doesn’t skew too feminine, this is the great pick.

Les Fougeres by Schumacher. Gosh, there’s just something so lovely and elegant about this fern fabric. I think it would be so perfect as a roman blind or headboard at the cottage.

Henderson Stripe Sky by Tonic Living. 100% cotton and the loveliest shade of soft blue, I love the vintage ladylike-ness of this graphic stripe.

Jacaranda in Willow by Designer’s Guild. Birds, flowers and branches on the dreamiest buttery silk — this fabric is a heartbreaker! It would look so beautiful as an elegant curtain, undulating in the sunlight, or covering a powder room window.
