Classic Pick: When it came to decorating this Lake Joseph, Ontario, cottage, designer Michael Angus was told to go rustic — and what could be more country-chic than a big harvest table under an antler chandelier? In order to keep things light and fresh, blue and white cushions on the chairs and white walls are used to temper the dark wood ceiling and floors.
Fresh Spin: For those who want a modern spin on the rustic light fixture, a sculptural wood version is a striking alternative. With Edison bulbs providing the light, the layered effect of the wood pieces creates the illusion of splayed antlers. The dark wood provides a graphic punch against the white but is softened by the organic shape.
