A Bright & Organized Kitchen With Surprising Design Details
Published on February 12, 2020

When it comes to the heart of your home, keeping things clutter-free is key. That’s exactly what homeowner Audrée wanted to do when she asked design firm Cuisines Steam to reimagine her kitchen. And they delivered with savvy storage with a splash of artful flair. Double islands and a wall of concealed storage ensure everything is in its place — and out of sight. “The key is to choose what you love — as long as you can still see yourself loving it 10 years from now,” says Cuisines Steam. Pale grey cabinets and touches of natural oak give the space the polished yet cozy look the homeowner was after. “Pick classic materials in neutral tones, and make them pop with a touch of wood and black accents,” says Cuisine Steam.

Oak veneer, installed on the uppers in a plank style, breaks up the wall of grey cabinets. “We wanted the wall of cabinets to feel more like integrated furniture, so we used a mix of discreet touch-latch doors and finger grips,” says Cuisine Steam.

Guests can help themselves from this island’s bar fridge during dinner parties, while the other island is left free for food prep and serving.

Audrée wanted the kitchen to feel bright and luminous, as well as integrated with the rest of her contemporary home.

Dining chairs in saturated hues reflect the young, dynamic homeowners.

Abstract art pairs well with simple black pendants above the dining table.
