Christina Aguilera’s $8.4M Hollywood Home Has A Star Pedigree
This mid-century house in Hollywood Hills perched over the Sunset Strip has a hall of fame of owners, including singers Liza Minnelli and Christina Aguilera. According to the Robb Report, both stars owned this architectural stunner, and it’s now on the market with a more than $1 million price cut at $8.4M.
The 6,500-square-feet home was built by famed architect Harry Gesner for film director Jack Haley Jr. (the son of the actor Jack Haley, who played the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz, and, in the 1970s, was briefly married to Liza Minnelli, whose mother, Judy Garland, played Dorothy).
The couple lived together in the four bedroom, five-and-a-half bathroom home until their split in 1979. Almost 25 years later, in 2003, pop chanteuse Christina Aguilera bought the house for $5 million, tapping the designer and developer Steve Hermann to remodel the glass-walled home.

The home is tucked behind a geometric gate and entered via an angled, slat-wood door. There are numerous skylights and clerestory windows that amp up the natural light.
The main living area has an open layout with sleek stone floors, wooden ceilings, a sunken hexagonal lounge with a steel-clad fireplace that extends to the ceiling. A cascading waterfall feature burbles outside of the living room.
A long, built-in custom sofa (designed to a host a crowd) lines the sunken conversation pit, which is backed by a green accent wall.
The adjoining dining room has sweeping views of the both the Pacific Ocean and L.A.
The contemporary eat-in kitchen is equipped with a central island, premium appliances, a breakfast nook and industrial metal counters.
An airy bar area is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows, and is an ideal nighttime entertaining spot when the lights of L.A. twinkle below.
Measuring 1,200 square feet, the plush principal bedroom has two fireplaces, a sitting area, and a walk-in closet.
The suite opens up to a terrace pool, with views of downtown in the distance.
The marble-clad ensuite bathroom has a walk-in steam shower, soaker tub and aquarium.
A guest bedroom on the upper level has classic mid-century touches like warm, panelled wood walls and floor-to-ceiling drapes.
Despite being in the lower level, skylights and floor-to-ceiling sliding doors flood this lounge with sunlight.
A guest bedroom in the discreet lower level has impressive wood beams and a cosy fireplace.
Christina had at one time converted the 18-seat screening room into a recording studio — adjacent is a galley bar, a temperature-controlled wine room and a tasting nook.
The terrace patio is studded with a pool lined in azure tiles, a BBQ area, and a lagoon-style spa next to an outdoor fireplace.
An expansive deck serves as both an entertainment space and observation outlook to take advantage of the views.
