Grammy winner and philanthropist John Legend has partnered with Etsy on a limited-edition decor and lifestyle collection, co-designed with an inspiring group of Etsy shops run by women, Black and underrepresented sellers. “It’s important for me to fill my home with high quality pieces made by people who approach their craft with intention,” says John Legend. “Each item in this collection was made with joy in partnership with makers who inspire me, and I hope these special pieces make you feel right at home.” The sellers featured in this Creator Collab represent five countries, including the US, Canada, UK, Bulgaria and Poland.

Drawing inspiration from John’s own interior style and life at home, this co-created assortment of pieces features earth-toned ceramics and planters, intricately-woven baskets and vases, textured throw pillows and elevated pet accessories.

“I love Etsy because it gives a platform to so many creative and diverse makers, who pour their heart and soul into their work. Getting to collaborate with these talented artists was such a special experience, because the finished products tell a story about the people who made them.”

As a champion for marginalized voices, John prioritized working with underrepresented sellers for the collection, including two members of the historic Gullah basket weavers community, part of the Etsy Uplift Makers Program.
Passed down for more than eight generations, the Gullah basket weaving crafting technique is considered the oldest African craft tradition in the United States – dating back to the 1700s when enslaved rice farmers first brought the art form to South Carolina. This Crowned Stand Basket is handmade by a 6th Generation Gullah Weaver and took over 200 hours to complete. It is hand-woven using sweetgrass, palmetto, bulrush and pine needles.

It’s no surprise a musician like John picked this mid-century modern-style console, designed to house a vinyl collection and turntable.

Mugs from this U.K. studio are made in small batches, with glazes mixed from powders to create unique patterns.

This two-tone basket handle curls organically from the body and shows off the artistry of the maker.

This striped robe is super soft, made from handwoven linen and cotton Peshtamals (a traditional towel used in Hammams). It’s also extremely absorbent, quick-drying and multifunctional — and can double as a duster over jeans.

This California shop’s 3D-printed planters are made from plant-based Bioplastics and come in intriguing textures and shapes.

These pillow covers are made by a Canadian seller, and include neutral bouclé, graphic prints and velvet options.
