Rosie Daykin’s Vancouver hot spot, Butter Baked Goods Bakery and Cafe , was an overnight sensation when it opened in 2007. People not only fell in love with Rosie’s homemade treats, but they also loved the pink and pistachio world she created. Two bestselling baking books soon followed. With her latest, Let Me Feed You , the author opens the door to her beautiful home to share the food she loves making for friends and family.
Rosie and her dog, Pickle, in their charming Vancouver home. “I try not to bake or cook to impress people; that’s not the goal,” she says. “The goal is to feed people and make them happy and comfortable.”
A recent renovation allowed Rosie to create an efficient kitchen that’s also a reflection of her taste. “There was a busier backsplash that, 13 years ago, was kind of groovy,” she says, “but I really wanted to return to what made me comfortable and happy, which was that same Carrara backsplash as the countertops. It’s very classic.”
She also opened up some of the shelving to showcase her collection of white dishes, adding warmth and personality.
Dinner parties thrown by Rosie and her husband, Paul, are all about ease and comfort. “I serve everything family style,” she says. “I find it a little more casual.”
