GRAND PRIZE WINNER: PURE DESIGN INC., NORTH VANCOUVER, B.C.
Inspired by Danish minimalism, president and principal designer Ami McKay played with clean lines, curved elements and colour. Tofino cabinets in custom Glad Yellow and Cheviot (off-white) and natural oak hardware offer a modern, streamlined look while the curved pantry and island add softness and movement to this linear space.
Sunny yellow cabinets and a well-placed skylight brighten up the kitchen.
BEST KITCHEN, CANADA: APCHIN DESIGN + BUILD, KELOWNA, B.C.
The expansive kitchen is the centerpiece of this mountain chalet, with its large island, Whistler flat cabinet doors in black-stained oak and 16-foot live-edge fir bar top.
A wall of cabinets and a sleek appliance garage offer loads of storage.
BEST KITCHEN, STORAGE: FINAL DRAFT CABINETRY, VANCOUVER.
This hardworking space with zones for cooking, coffee and wine storage uses the Metropolitan door style in Dune, panel-ready appliances and walnut accents to create a calm yet contemporary aesthetic.
Integrated cabinet lighting highlights the homeowner’s treasures.
BEST KITCHEN, INTERNATIONAL: SANTA TSUSHO, TOKYO.
Designed to encourage shared culinary experiences, this contemporary kitchen boasts an oversized island complemented by Parksville Flat cabinet doors in custom colours of Snow and Midnight.
Dark cabinets help ground the island and make it a focal point in the kitchen.
