Inside A Star-Studded $15.95M Modern SoHo Loft
We first caught wind of this recently listed SoHo loft when rumors swirled that it was owned by Sir Elton John himself. If the lack of musical instruments and rock-star paraphernalia was any indication, the rumour has since been discredited. But, he did visit the property when apartment hunting in 2010 — he just never bit the bullet. With its light-filled windows and lofty square footage in the heart of New York, we’re not sure why. The building is no stranger to celebrities, having housed Claire Danes, the Smashing Pumpkins and Donna Karan.
The tech-forward home boasts three bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths, color-changing walls and a secret cat tunnel that goes from the kitchen to the litter box in the pantry. The current owner, art consultant Sara Tecchia, has listed the space for $15.95 million — that’s $7 million less than her asking price when listed last December. A wall of sleek blond wood cabinets offer storage and modern style in the kitchen, while a backsplash finished in glossy, grey Caesarstone creates textural contrast. An island suspended between two columns looks futuristic.
The powder room inspired by Piet Mondrian features a color-changing LED mood wall controlled via remote control, adding an unexpected and playful contrast to the streamlined look of the loft.
What this bedroom lacks in furniture, it makes up for in electronics. Motorized shades and an electronic headboard in the master suite allow you to face the terrace or fireplace at the press of a button.
The master bath is a luxurious spa-like retreat, complete with heated porcelain floors, a raw copper deep-soaking tub and an enormous double rain shower with multiple body jets and mosaic tiling.
