The classic white kitchen gets an update with refined layers including all-white hardware, cabinets and backsplash. Here are two takes on this fresh and elegant style. Scroll down!
Monochrome Magic
Collective Studio’s Jordy Fagan and Alana Firestone brought high-contrast style to this compact Toronto kitchen using a range of on-trend finishes and textures. The peninsula and vent hood were clad in reeded oak that’s stained in a rich ebony tone, while the rest of the cabinets were lacquered in a crisp white, their outlines subtly defined by pencil-trim molding. Custom-made MDF hardware was painted to match, a clever move that keeps the look uninterrupted but still transitional in tone. “We wanted everything to blend in, especially the panelled fridge,” says Alana.

A mix of materials continues the layered approach, with white-painted cabinets topped with white quartz counters against white walls. The stain- and scratch-resistant Caesarstone counters will help the owners maintain the pristine look.

Blank Slate
To create a calm, uncluttered aesthetic in this Whistler, B.C., kitchen , designer Peter Wilds paid special attention to the finest details — right down to the absence of cabinet pulls and knobs. “I designed the drawers to have angled edges for easy access without the need for hardware,” says Peter. The result is an all-white envelope against which gold-toned faucets, appliances, handles and pendants shine.

The all-white scheme continues in the dining room with the white table, chairs and pendants. A large mirror on the back wall bounces around light and reflects even more white.
