Hot Take: Veronica Martin and Carrie Stinson Share Their Design Preferences & Predictions

Veronica Martin and Carrie Stinson founded Two Fold Interiors in Toronto in 2018. Known for creating pared-back, elegant rooms, the design duo shared some of their recent projects and preferences with us in H&H’s September issue. “A classic approach to modern design guides all of our decisions,” says Carrie. They’re currently restoring a Queen Anne–era home in the city’s Rosedale neighborhood. Scroll down to see what’s inspiring them lately!

Into:
Carrie: I love the Audo, with its plaster walls and serene spaces.
Veronica: Modern residential design in Australia; the use of natural materials is so creative.
Over: Graphic glam and overdone spaces.
Subdued color palettes and relaxed, high-quality furniture are a studio signature. “We kept the original crown moldings and modernized them with the wall paneling and furniture,” says Veronica of this living room belonging to Toronto food and lifestyle entrepreneur Trish Magwood.

Veronica (left): Stone drawer fronts.
Choose any room to redesign: Our kids’ classrooms. Kids and teachers need more adaptable environments that restore a feeling of community. We’d focus on available light and bring in natural materials and textures.
On your coffee table:
Veronica: A glass of wine and the cover of whatever record my husband is playing.

Veronica: My dad’s wedding band.
Carrie: My Little Petra chair.
