A Cocktail Recipe In Celebration Of Pride

Recipe:

In a Pride month that has been tainted by tragedy, we’re even more determined to get out there and champion diversity in all its forms. What better way to celebrate than with an Absolut vodka cocktail inspired by Queer Nation. Absolut has partnered with Alana Nogueda, Co-owner at The Shameful Tiki Room, to create this original recipe, the “We’re Here, We’re Clear, Get Used To It” cocktail.

A twist on the classic Mai Tai, it’s a refreshing mix of vodka, lime juice, Cointreau and orgeat (a sweet almond syrup) with fresh mint and it’s perfect for summer. Whip one up at home, or order it straight from her bar during Toronto’s Pride festival. Absolut also has a cool new bottle called Absolut Mix, inspired by pride, the rainbow flag, inclusion and diversity. The limited edition bottle is available now across Canada for $26.95.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. Absolut Mix
  • ½ oz. Cointreau
  • 1 oz. clarified lime juice
  • ½ oz. peach pit clarified orgeat*
  • Garnish: mint sprig and lime slice

Directions

Yield:

  1. Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker. Shake well and strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with mint sprig and lime slice.

*Orgeat is sweet almond syrup made from almonds, sugar and rose or orange water — an essential ingredient in a classic Mai Tai. Use regular orgeat syrup if you can’t find peach syrup.
