Goat Cheese & Bacon Burgers

Recipe:

Goat cheese is an incredible addition to salads and any appetizer really, but throw in some curds of goat cheese to a classic hamburger and you will be left with an unexpected flavour.

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1 tbsp steak seasoning
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 6 tbsp barbecue sauce
  • 3 oz. spreadable goat cheese
  • 8 strips cooked bacon
  • 4 whole wheat or sesame buns
  • Desired toppings

Directions

Yield:

  1. Prepare an outdoor grill for high heat.
  2. In a medium bowl add meat, garlic, onion and cumin. Mix until just combined; Divide into four balls, and gently form into 1″ thick patties. Sprinkle with steak seasoning and refrigerate for 1-2 hours.
  3. Lightly brush both sides of each patty with some oil and place on grill. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until cooked through. Brush 1/2 of the barbecue sauce on burgers and cook for 1 additional minute; flip burgers, spread with remaining sauce and cook for another 1 minute until sauce has carmelized. Remove from heat; spread with goat cheese and top with bacon. Serve on buns with your favourite toppings.
