Reimagine The Garage With Volvo’s Sustainable Design Challenge
Updated on January 5, 2021

Calling all design enthusiasts! Volvo Cars Canada has teamed up with Toronto’s Interior Design Show for The New Garage Design Challenge which asks us to reimagine an often-neglected room in our homes: the garage. You don’t have to be a design pro to enter: the competition is open to creative thinkers of all levels!
All you need is a vision: what does a sustainable future of the garage look like, where vehicles live in perfect harmony and protect the planet? “Alongside safety, sustainability and Scandinavian design are two of our key areas of focus at Volvo Cars, and The New Garage allows us to showcase these elements in new and exciting ways,” says Matt Girgis, Managing Director of Volvo Cars Canada.
The challenge was inspired by the launch of the XC40 Recharge, Volvo’s first pure electric compact SUV, and will be judged by a panel of celebrated Canadian designers and architects: (clockwise, from top left) Javier Campos of Campos Studio, Kim Pariseau of APPAREIL Architecture, Jonathan Sabine and Jessica Nakanishi of M-S-D-S Studio, as well as Volvo Cars’ Head of Design, Robin Page, based in Gothenburg, Sweden.
