The Silver Spoon, a widely successful Italian cookbook first published in 1950, is now available in a brand new revised edition (2011 Phaidon). With almost 1,500 pages, the new hardcover edition is a staple in any kitchen that has seen pasta or pizza. The recipes were compiled by a select group of cooking experts commissioned to collect hundreds of traditional Italian recipes and make them available to a wider audience. The new book features introductory material about a range of topics, from creating a traditional Italian meal to typical food customs of the different regions in Italy. Here, find three recipes from three different courses. The shrimp and fig salad (pictured above) is a healthy choice for starting fresh in the new year!
