Shops We Love: Upgrade Your Cabinetry With Casson Hardware

After meeting at architecture school at the University of Toronto and spending several years working on commercial and residential projects, Canadians Megan Cassidy and Jane Son focused their big-picture thinking on one of design’s smallest details: hardware. The duo launched Casson in 2017 with 20 carefully selected collections of hinges, handles, pulls and exterior hardware — a figure that has grown to 44 today, and now includes accessories such as lighting and bath fixtures. “There’s a lot of traditional hardware on the market, but it was difficult to find something more minimal. It wasn’t collected in one place,” says Megan (left).

Casson recently showcased their sleek designs at a pop-up showroom in Toronto.

You can choose hardware in brass, bronze, concrete and rubber finishes for a personalized look. “Good-quality hardware can really elevate big-box cabinetry,” says Jane.

Designed by Stephane Parmentier for Maison Vervloet, these perforated nobs have a tactile pull that’s hard to resist.

Wooden door levers by French architect Jean Nouvel and sculptural metal hardware by Danish legend Arne Jacobsen both boast a serious design pedigree.

Craving a quick refresh in your white kitchen or bathroom? A pop of color provided by this whimsical cobalt nob designed by Jean François D’or is the answer.
