As we enter a new year and leave 2020 behind, we thought we’d do a little reminiscing… our editors share their all-time favourite design moments from H&H history. Join us for a walk down memory lane and scroll through to see the spaces we chose!

“I’ve been wowed by so many homes in H&H that choosing an all-time favorite moment would be impossible — but this principal retreat, tucked under the eaves of architect Darcie Watson’s Edwardian home, is a top contender. The double-sided fireplace and collected furniture pieces make a soothing yet unforgettable statement. It must be such a treat to retire to the comfort of this room at bedtime or anytime.” – Kimberley Brown, Style Director

“When I saw this bedroom by designers Carey Mudford and Erin Coe, my jaw dropped! The back-lit onyx headboard is something I have honestly never seen before (and I’ve flipped through many decor magazines). The brushed brass chandelier and bedside lamps are the perfect finishing touches. Now, all I need is a good book and I’ll never leave!” — Victoria Christie, Digital Editor

“I am a mural freak (I am currently painting my own in our dining room, and it’s taking 900 hours). I love that wall coverings — like this version by Fine & Dandy — make them accessible for anyone now. It’s easy to conjure an impactful atmosphere in one day, and the options are so much more sophisticated than they’ve ever been.” — Wendy Jacob, Features Editor

“I return to the Parisian apartment of Jackie Kai Ellis again and again. It’s a master class in how to renovate mindfully and an exceptional balance of old and new. The classic city bike parked in the dining room, wood-burning fireplaces with marble surrounds, spare Gervasoni pendant light, velvet La Redoute sofa selected for napping — the entire approach is refined, relaxed and an absolute wow.” — Rosemary Poole, Design Editor

“My wow moment would be designer Colette van den Thillart’s Hague Blue London living room. This shot is from 10 years ago, and I remember thinking how exciting it was to see a rich dark color on the wall and all of the perfectly eclectic furnishings. This is still one of my favorites all these years later.” – Kai Ethier, Senior Market Editor

“I have always been a lover of mid-century modern design, and this home is the pièce de résistance! The 1780 Cape Cod saltbox is the perfect backdrop for modern design choices, and this Danish teak dining set and sideboard are undeniably wow-worthy.” – Jenna Wilhelmsen, Contributor

“I would say a favorite design moment of mine is designer Allison Willson’s bold use of wallpaper in a family dining room. I love how it wraps into the shelving niche and frames the table.” – Stacy Begg, Senior Interiors Editor

“My all-time favorite design moment has to be this gorgeous new-build kitchen. The Calacatta Cielo marble backsplash is a showstopper. It pairs so well with the brass lighting, and the while oak cabinets add character and warmth. I’m also obsessed with the rich blue shade; it’s unique but striking for a kitchen. I’d love to cook dinner in here and host a gathering when it’s safe to do so!” — Jacklyn Gilmor, Digital Coordinator, Maison & Demeure
