In ceramicist Sara Wood’s kitchen, a multitasking pantry houses small appliances, dried foods and spices and even an area for a coffee or tea bar. The unassuming doors blend into the millwork when closed.

When it came to renovating this vibrant home, Ali Budd had a vision. “Formal living rooms are often unused spaces. What’s more useful are large pantry areas and a big dining room,” says the designer. This powder puff pastel butler’s pantry is beyond pretty and also has an extra oven, which comes in handy when the homeowner’s cook larger meals.

“It’s amazing how a beautiful, organized house can make you feel happy,” says designer Orsi Panos. In this gorgeous pantry she designd for a food blogger, bi-fold doors house miscellaneous kitchen items, while deep lower drawers are ideal for storing heavy pots and small appliances.

In this avocado-hued kitchen, a Dutch door makes for a handy feature when passing groceries or baking ingredients through the convenient opening.

This full-height pantry works double duty as a built-in bar and storage unit. The contrast of white and wood gives each cabinet a distinct presence in the kitchen.

In this walk-in pantry off the kitchen, blue-grey cabinets mirror the ones seen in the mudroom, bringing cohesion to the farmhouse-inspired space. The kitchen features hits of wood that can be also be seen in the pantry.

We love how this spacious pantry stands out from the rest of the English-style kitchen with a little help from the patterned tile floor. “The pantry color makes the archway pop,” says designer Kassandra Arbour. “It’s such a fun look to see that beautiful ladder and the tiled floor.”

Too many chefs in the kitchen? According to designer Gillian Atkins, it’s important to consider how you’ll be using your kitchen when planning a renovation. If you have extra space, a prep room that’s separate from your main cooking area can bring more flow and function to your hardworking hub.

In this stylish and efficient home, a small passageway between the kitchen and dining room is an entertainer’s dream. The versatile space can be used as pantry, servery or bar. Retractable doors provide quick and easy access when hosting a crowd.

When it came to designing this kitchen, the homeowners requested a walk-in pantry, but the design duo behind Collective Studio came up with a clever alternative. “We suggested a curved stand-alone pantry with retractable doors and custom half-moon handles,” says Jordy Fagan.
