“A conifer keeps its needles and is green year-round,” says Brett Meech of the inspiration for his home store in Lunenburg, N.S.
“It fits in with my classic approach to styling and describes the pieces in the store — always beautiful and seasonless.”
The colorful, 2,000-square-foot shop is in a circa-1850 oceanside building. Much like the town itself, the interior is relaxed and welcoming, filled with one-of-a-kind products that are well-designed, with classic forms and rich textures.
You’ll find furniture, European antiques and a mix of old and new homewares here. “I learned how to style and curate in a way that feels natural and unpretentious — almost like writing stories with objects instead of words,” he says.
Brett plans to expand his collection to include rugs, food and flowers, as well as hopefully add a courtyard out back where he can showcase garden furniture.
“For the shop, I buy what I’m drawn to; it’s an energy more than a formula,” says shop owner Brett Meech (pictured).
