Planning A Bathroom Reno? Here Are 7 Trends To Consider

Why wait for a new year to embrace change?

If you have a bathroom renovation on the horizon (or just love to be up-to-speed on the hottest looks in bathroom design), scroll down for seven bathroom trends that will take your serene space to the next level!

1. Treat Pink As A Neutral

In this bathroom by Bellingham, Washington, designer Lisa Staton, two shades of pink work together for an earthy look. Classic four-inch-square tiles clad the walls, while slabs of Breccia Oniciata marble form the vanity counter and a backsplash that continues into the shower to form a ledge. “You get the warmth of pink, but it’s not acting as color with a capital C,” says Lisa.

2. Add Tactile Accessories

Obakki soaps are cold-pressed by hand in Canada using 100 per cent all-natural vegan ingredients such as argan and Moringa oil, sourced from female entrepreneurs in Uganda.

3. Look To The 1930s

Nods to Art Deco style appear in many of the latest collections, from reeded glass cabinets to decoratively embellished faucets to star-patterned tile — muted colors help keep the look current.

4. Mix In Artful Textiles

With their abstract patterns and striking color combinations — think mint, mustard and slate! — rugs from Cold Picnic make a serious artistic statement. For the tub area, we like the Sleeping Giant bathmat (bottom) and for powder rooms, the tufted Sleeping Sharks rug (top).

5. Create A Vignette

“The whole idea was to maintain the character but keep it fresh and current,” says designer Dianne Berman of this principal bathroom. “A lot of the inspiration came from boutique hotels and restaurants with beautiful tilework, plants and color. This floor-mount tub filler is a beautiful and sculptural addition.”
