Paris has long been a place of inspiration for writers, artists and designers. In addition to having one of the most renowned food scenes on the globe, Paris has pioneered some of the world’s most coveted design and architectural trends. Here are a few ways to bring the je ne sais quoi of Europe’s most stylish capital to your own home.

“The owners love to visit Paris, and they wanted their Toronto condo to feel like an escape,” says designer Jennifer Kominek . Jennifer understood the assignment by designing a charming breakfast nook with a blue built-in banquette, wall mural and French cane chairs.

Even though the apartment is new, Jennifer designed it to “suggest it had been here for 100 years,” she says. The grey porcelain tile floors were replaced with white oak herringbone, and plaster moldings, high baseboards and a marble fireplace were added.

Designer–architect Dee Dee Taylor Hannah pulled inspiration from Paris when taking this Toronto condo from bland to grand. The intricate ceilings in the great room are an ode to Parisian style, but adding hits of gilt with furniture and lighting is another way to achieve the beloved look.
