Why Arches Are Trending Now

It’s official: everyone loves an arch. Whether it’s the ancient Roman form that’s long been a staple of California’s casual Spanish-style homes or the whimsical Moorish shape, arches are making an appearance on doorways, pantries and, yes, furniture too. It’s so friendly and a smidge whimsical (there’s just something about that swoop that we’re drawn to). So level-up with one (or two) in your home like these savvy spaces. Scroll down!

Connecting a room with an archway is so much more interesting. That swooped snippet into the next space creates the perfect sightline.

Shannon McIlwain says she’s “a little obsessed with arches,” so the designer repeated the gorgeous curve in the doorway of her bedroom and the built-in shelves beside the bed.

The leafy, arch-framed view in this luxurious shower in Jupiter, Florida, is a showstopper.

Designer Philip Mitchell framed this breakfast nook in his Chester, Nova Scotia, kitchen with a commanding arch — all the better to highlight a view of the spectacular harbor.
